Crowns and dental bridges are two common dental procedures that are used to restore and improve the appearance and function of damaged or missing teeth. At Strohmeyer Dental, we specialize in providing high-quality crowns and dental bridges to our patients, helping them achieve optimal oral health and a confident smile.
Crowns are typically used to protect and restore a damaged tooth, or to improve its appearance. A crown, also known as a cap, is a custom-made covering that fits over the visible portion of a tooth. Crowns can be made from a variety of materials, including porcelain, ceramic, and zirconia, and are designed to match the color of your natural teeth for a seamless, natural look.
One of the main benefits of a dental crown is that it can help to strengthen a damaged or weakened tooth, preventing further damage and preserving the health of the surrounding teeth. Crowns can also be used to restore the appearance of a misshapen, discolored, or otherwise unsightly tooth, improving the overall appearance of your smile.
Dental bridges, on the other hand, are used to replace one or more missing teeth. A dental bridge consists of one or more artificial teeth, known as pontics, that are attached to crowns on either side. The crowns are then placed over the natural teeth next to the gap created by the missing tooth or teeth, effectively “bridging” the gap and restoring the appearance and function of the smile.
Dental bridges can provide a number of benefits to patients with missing teeth. In addition to restoring the appearance of the smile, bridges can also improve the function of the bite, preventing the surrounding teeth from shifting into the gap created by the missing tooth or teeth. Bridges can also help to preserve the health of the jawbone and surrounding tissues, preventing further dental problems and maintaining optimal oral health.
